Our Chosen Beers for March
As the days get a bit longer, a bit warmer and a bit lighter, we’ve added some cracking pale and golden beers to our list for our March subscribers.
We welcome back some old favourite breweries with Shropshire Gold, the multi award winning ale from Salopian in Shrewsbury. For a small producer, they have won a whole load of CAMRA and SIBA awards and I know they have plans to increase their bottled range. We’re lucky enough to live near three great pubs that stock this brewery’s beers and this is one of my all-time favourites. In a recent blog, I read that Shropshire Gold should be considered one of the great session ales. Read it here.
A new supplier for us this month is Blue Monkey from the Derby/ Nottingham border. They are very well regarded nationwide and are at the forefront of the rapid expansion of brewers in this part of the East Midlands. The beer I’ve featured here is BG Sips, a CAMRA gold award winner that packs a punch for a 4% beer. I’m currently enjoying BG Sips’ big brother, Infinity a 4.6% Citra hop packed beer that delivers even more of a fruity hit.
It seems incredible that only 18 months ago, we took our first delivery of beer from the Lymestone Brewery in Stone, a beautiful part of Staffordshire. Some 250 cases of their beer later, they're still as popular and their premises have doubled in size. They have also recently opened The Lymestone Vaults, their brewery tap and I really do urge you to try their great range of beers on draught. I’ve chosen their 5.0% pale ale Einstein, a truly flavoursome beer that isn’t just for rocket scientists.
The complete line up of beers for our March subscribers is;
Woodlands Brewery – New Leaf
Thornbridge – Wild Swan
Captain Cook – Slipway
Williams Bros – Cock o’ the walk
Cheddar Ales – Bitter Bully
Backyard Brewhouse – Premium
Hogsback – Ripsnorter
Salopian – Shropshire Gold
Lymestone – Einstein
Llangollen – Llangollen Bitter
Blue Monkey – BG Sips
George Wright - Pacifica
* Please note this is for anyone on the 2nd month onwards. The first month of the beer club is all our best sellers
