Hanlons Brewery is an award winning, family-run business based in Half Moon, Devon. Having a rich history of brewing excellence, they are constantly on a mission to produce mouth-watering, distinctive beers so that everyone can find their own favourite.
Specialising in natural, handcrafted Cask ale, Hanlons are all about brewing beer which people can truly enjoy to celebrate life! They only use the best quality barley and hops from the UK’s top suppliers and water from the rolling Devon hills to ensure that their products will always be packed full of flavour and refreshingly satisfying.
Original owner, Kerry-born John O’Hanlon, moved to London and opened the O’Hanlons pub in Islington. Soon after, he bought the 3 Crowns, quickly gaining a reputation as a true Irish pub. Tiring of people asking for Guinness, John started the brewery in a railway arch in Vauxhall in 1998. The first beer was Port Stout. The initial aim was purely to supply the pub, but the popularity grew and so did the beer!
In 2000 O’Hanlons Brewery moved to farm buildings in an old Devonian orchard, which sat on a site once mentioned in the Domesday Book just outside of Exeter in Devon.
In 2013 the business was bought by Dan Taylor. After moving to a new location in Half Moon Village, the business was rebranded with a new logo and name ‘Hanlons’ with the existing staff staying. The core range was reduced to 4 cask beers, Yellow Hammer, Stormstay, Port Stout and Firefly with seasonal additions.
Always conscious of their beers reflecting the stunning location of their business, Hanlons ensure that every drop of ale that leaves the brewery perfectly encapsulates a glorious day in Devon.
