Back in 2013, we had the privilege of introducing Britain to the very first beer advent calendar. The inspiration for this innovative idea struck us during a drive back from a mid-week football match at Tranmere. Whether it was the invigorating sea breeze on the Wirral or the sheer excitement of our team's victory, we can't say for sure. What we do know is that this idea was destined to change the way beer loving adults celebrated the festive season.
In its initial stages, our prototype was, well, let's say, a bit unconventional. It essentially consisted of our standard brown transit box with numbered caps on top of the bottles. It may not have been a work of art, but it was a start, and we were eager to refine it.
Fast forward 12 months, and our first proper beer advent calendar was ready to take on the world. It was even nominated for an award at the prestigious UK Packaging Awards ceremony held at the Hilton on Park Lane. While we didn't snag the top prize (that honour went to Kellogg's and their sizabel investment in a new instore display box for cornflakes), we were over the moon to be the runner-up to the world's biggest cereal producer. It was a testament to our passion for creating something truly unique.
Now, as we celebrate its 10th year, the 2023 Best of British Beer advent calendar is back and better than ever. Designed, as always, by the brilliant James Miller at Miller and Co and expertly produced by the dedicated team at Stoke Packaging, this year's edition is available in both craft beer and lager variations.
