Stonehouse Brewery

Born in 2007, Stonehouse Brewery is still a family business. Starting from humble beginnings in an old chicken shed, they’ve expanded over the years and now have a bar, BBQ restaurant and distillery.

The brainchild of Shane & Alison Parr who immigrated from Australia and then partnered up with Alison’s Mum and Dad (Iain & Anne) to get started. Iain is an engineer by trade and keeps the brewery running smoothly, while Anne is a keen gardener who keeps the 1-acre orchard looking pristine.

Initially brewing traditional cask ales, they’ve moved with the times and now do hazy IPAs and a lager. As time went on, they recognised the demand for brewery taps and expanded their own small bar to include an Aussie themed restaurant, which uses meats cooked on an offset smoker designed and built by Iain.

In 2024 Stonehouse installed their own still and are producing gins and whiskies that you can get direct from the brewery or their online shop. If you stop in, you can watch the brewing and distilling process through the window in the bar.

Shane & Alison have always felt comfortable branching out into new ventures because they have a great team and they’re the ones that make it all happen.
They’re located next to the Cambrian Railway line in Oswestry, which re-opened to the public in 2022. You can catch a steam train down to Stonehouse and enjoy drinks and tucker in their fantastic brewery tap or outside amongst the apple trees in the orchard.
